Montblanc joins the fashion of luxury brands to launch smartwatches

A few days ago TAG Heuer announced the second generation of its smartwatch, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular, a modular smartwatch that we can customize in 500 different ways, making use of different straps, buckles and even boxes. But it is not the only luxury company that has put its head into the world of smarwatches, although at the moment it is the most successful signature of exclusive items, selling 56.000 units of its previous model, a success for the company. company, a success they had not predicted at any time. Montblanc has just presented the Montblanc Summit, a smartwtach that will also be managed by Android Wear, leaving aside the experiments that Swatch is carrying out with its own operating system.

Unlike the TAG Heuer model, a model designed by an Intel processor, the firm has relied on Qualcomm, integrating the Snapdragon Wear 2100, along with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It is also waterproof thanks to the IP68 certification. The battery is a negative point, since it only offers us 300mAh, although according to the manufacturer, more than enough to be able to get home and charge it at night, with the magnetic charger that this model offers. The 1,39-inch AMOLED screen is protected by a sapphire glass and has a resolution of 400 × 400.

But already put into flour, the company could have added an NFC and GP chipYes, which are the negative points that we find in this model, a model that has an optical heart rate sensor, something that is not available in the TAG Heuer model. It is clear that it does not always rain to everyone's liking, but logically being a model to dress, the guys from TAG Heuer have not seen fit to implement it, although it is never too much, things as they are.

Regarding the price, the Montblanc Summit will go on sale for $ 890 in its basic version. If we want a steel corra we will have to pay 50 euros more. The straps are 22 mm, so it will be no problem to use any strap that we can find on the market and that suits our tastes, as long as we have money to buy this luxury smartwatch, a model that is cheaper than the TAG Heuer Connected Modular, whose starting price is 1.350 euros.
