MSI launches its new gaming motherboard with USB Type C port

It is clear that today the USB Type C ports are already the present and these are added in the majority of new electronic devices that are launched on the market. This is the case of the recently presented Z170A Gaming M6, an MSI motherboard that already adds this USB C port in its multiple connections. Today we can no longer say that: "nothing happens if it does not have a USB C port, it is not yet the standard" today we already have to buy devices and others with this port incorporated.

In the case of this new MSI Z170A motherboard we have to say that it is geared towards gaming and obviously we do not believe that it is an economical motherboard, but its price is not known today, so we have to wait. Next we leave the press release on this spectacular motherboard and all the specs it adds.

MSI is proud to announce the new motherboard Z170A GAMING M6 for enthusiastic gamers. With two new features, Lightning USB and the next generation of Killer networking, the Z170A GAMING M6 takes gray as its main color, giving it a new look. This motherboard also offers onboard Twin Turbo M.2, Audio Boost 3, and a host of gaming features.

The USB 3.1 ASMedia 1142 controller on current motherboards is connected by either PCIe Gen2 x2 (10Gb / s) or Gen3 x1 (8Gb / s) which limits USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gb / s). MSI is proud to announce the first board to feature the Lightning ASMedia 2142 USB 3.1 Gen2 which runs up to 16Gb / s PCIe Gen3 x2, being twice as fast. Combined with MSI's exclusive USB Speed Up technology, there is no faster USB 3.1 Gen2 solution on the market. The PCIe Gen3 connection will also help improve the transfer rate when using two USB 3.1 Gen2 devices at the same time. The MSI Z170A GAMING M6 comes with dual USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C and Type-A interfaces at the same time.

“To achieve the best data transfer speed and experience over USB 3.1 Gen2, ASMedia Technology Inc. worked closely with a leading motherboard manufacturer such as MSI to develop the ASM 2142 high-speed controller. Tuned and optimized for motherboards. MSI GAMING base, allows to use the latest technology with a perfect hardware design, while allowing the controller to be fully optimized. ASMedia and MSI raise the bar for data transfer speed over USB  - Chewei Lin, President of ASMedia.

Thanks to the extensive collaboration between MSI and Rivet Networks, the MSI Z170A GAMING M6 will incorporate the next generation of Killer Networking technologies ensuring that MSI gamers are always one step ahead of the competition. Details of this new technology will be revealed later this month.

HIGH PERFORMANCE M.2 SSD

The Z170A Gaming M6 motherboard also supports M.2 SSDs with NVMe and RAID technology. Using the M.2 Genie function in the BIOS, gamers can easily build a RAID 0 to boot or a gaming SSD

In any case, it is a turning point for manufacturers who have to bet today on this USB Type C connector clearly.

Hello, I have a question, the connector on the motherboard type C can be connected to a hands-free with a type-C adapter? I say it because I already have the hands-free and a type-C adapter, but I don't know if the cards with C can receive audio and video information through that port (as in cell phones)
