The new Fire TV compatible with 4k HDR is now official

A few hours ago the Amazon company with Jeff Bezos at the head, presented the new Echo devices with which it wants to continue being the king in the smart speaker sector. But he took advantage of the event to present a new generation of Fire TV, this time supports 4k content, a device designed to consume streaming video either from Netflix, HBO, Hulu or the company's video store that makes a video store made up of more than 500.000 movies available to Amazon users.

The new Fire TV follows in the footsteps of Chromecast 4K and Apple TV 4K and allows us play content in 4K HDR. This new generation of Fire TV is also compatible with HDR10 and Dolby Atmos but at the moment it is not with Dolby Vision, like the Apple TV 4K, but it is to be assumed that this compatibility problem will be solved in future updates.

The Fire TV 4K processor offers us a speed of 1,5 GHz and is managed by 2 GB of RAM. Regarding storage, this model you only have 8 GB of storage, but taking into account that like Apple TV, we will not be able to download content in 4K for playback without an Internet connection, space is the least of it, but it is not for content in HD quality.

Amazon has chosen this time to abandon the typical box-shaped design to use a similar design to the Chromecast Ultra, The Fire TV being a device that will be connected to the HDMI port of our television, hiding behind it and without taking up space in front of the television, as if it happened with the previous model or with Apple TV in all its versions.

Now it's time to talk about the price. The new Fire TV 4K will hit the market on October 25 at a price of $ 69,99 excluding tax. The cheapest Apple TV model is the 32GB which is priced at $ 179,99 before tax, a price that is more than double the Apple model. Google's Chromecast Ultra, a device that has been on the market for two years, is available for 69,99 euros before taxes, the same one that we will find on the Fire TV.
