This morning we attended the Sony event within the framework of the MWC in Barcelona and the truth is that in addition to the three new devices launched and the presentation of the renewed Sony Xperia Ear, the brand has surprised the early risers with a new projector tactile. Yes, we are not talking about a projector that simply emits the images on the table, we are talking about a projector that has Android as an operating system and we can type, play, navigate or scroll through all the applications directly from the image you project onto the table.
The Xperia Touch, It is a projector that could be directly a tablet and its specifications are simple but sufficient to give the user a great user experience. This morning we have been able to test it and I already confirm that it works really smoothly and as we are used to using touch devices, you easily control it. It is capable of projecting images directly on the wall to view content (reaching 80 ″) but obviously we will lose touch functions, in this sense we can use it in HD resolution with a size of 23 inches on a table and works perfectly fine.
As for the internal hardware of this Xperia Touch, we have to clarify that it has installed Android 6.0 Marshmallow, has 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. As we were told a few hours ago at the Sony booth, this device will not receive a software update at the moment. In any case, what we have on the table is a powerful projector for different functions with touch technology at 60 FPS.
It has an autonomy of 60 minutes, dimensions of 69x133x143 cm, have a microUSB input, USB Type C, HDMI Type D, Miracast, add your own speaker and 13 megapixel camera for video calls. The time that we have "fiddled" it on a normal table and we have loved it because it is really stable and functional, it has never failed. Sony has put us a small video (something unusual on a table) playing Fruit Ninja, navigating Google Maps and we have even played a piano. This Xperia Touch is already available for reservation, but its price will not like everyone so much and is that we are talking about more than 1.400 euros.
