An outdated iPhone can be hacked through an iMessage

iMessage

We are very used to seeing all kinds of cybercriminals explore all kinds of nooks and crannies and possible security flaws present in the software of the most widespread devices on the market. As it was not going to be otherwise, and despite the fact that their market share is smaller, hackers were not only going to focus on attacks on Android devices, but also have their methods to attack all kinds of products equipped with a operating system iOS.

As has been commented since Cisco, apparently it has been possible to find a way to attack and steal both your user and personal data through a simple iMessage. As expected, this problem would affect almost all Apple products such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV or Apple Watch.

Fix this iMessage problem just by updating your device

As explained Tyler bohan, Cisco researcher, apparently with an iMessage containing an image file.TIFF with malicious code it is enough to steal the passwords of the terminal and also all those files and photographs that are in the storage memory of the device.

The fault found is due to the files received through iMessage downloading themselves. To put it another way, for iOS the .TIFF files are one more image, which implies precisely that malicious code can be included capable of stealing your sensitive personal information such as your bank account data or obtaining more precise data through social engineering.

If you have reached this point, tell yourself that there is a very simple solution to avoid having this problem and that it will not cost you too much, just a few minutes of your time. The solution is to update to the latest version of the operating system. In case you have an iPhone you must update it, at least, to version 9.3.3, with a Mac we talk about the El Capitan version 10.11.16, for an Apple Watch to WatchOS 2.2.2 and, in the case of an Apple TV to a tvOS 9.2.2.
