CES 2018 kicks off with many new featuresespecially in the television market. Since this year many brands take advantage of this event to present their news. Panasonic is one of them that presents its new range of OLED televisions. A range that we already met in 2017. Now, this range is completely renewed. The brand has opted to focus its efforts on offering a professional image quality.
Thanks to the alliance with Hollywood Deluxe they hope to obtain an even better image quality. Panasonic expects it to be so good that it is as close to cinema standards as possible. What else does the company have in store for us at CES 2018?
Four new models
It is a total of four new models that Panasonic presents. They belong to two different ranges. We met with: 1000-inch EZ77 and FZ950 and FZ800, available in both 65- and 55-inch. In all the models of the brand we find the new HCX 4K processor, with which they seek to improve HDR images over OLED. In addition, it provides better contrast and color gamut, which according to the brand encompasses one billion shades.
This processor incorporates professional 3D LUT tables (Look Up Tables). These tables are used by production companies in Hollywood and offer more accurate colors. Thanks to this, color spaces are corrected and the films are displayed exactly as their director created them.
The FZ950 and FZ800 ranges incorporate Imaging Science Foundation (isf) calibration settings. They include new calibration points, 2,55% luminance and are compatible with Portrait Display's CalMAN with AutoCal functionality. This means that they are knowledgeable when it comes to calibration and lovers of a great image.
HDR10 + dynamic metadata
This presentation by Panasonic has left us with a very interesting term. We generally hear words that are less special, in this case it is about "HDR10 + dynamic metadata". What is it? It is the technology that will help take advantage of the dynamic range of images even in the case in which the original source does not have the specific certification.
According to Panasonic they have anticipated the future with this new technology. Also his rivals. Since their televisions they will now support future HDR standards that have not yet been announced. So they will be the first to be compatible. All four televisions are compliant with standards HDR10 and HDR10 + as confirmed by the company.
In addition, all of them have Ultra HD Premium and THX certification. In addition, the company has added the optimizer Dynamic Scene 'and an Auto HDR Brightness Enhancer. The latter is aimed at average users, those who do not want complicated settings and calibrations or overly complex terms. Panasonic hi-res audio
Image quality is essential for Panasonic, as has been clear to us so far. But, it is important that the company do not neglect the audio. Something that has not happened, as expected. Since the company has opted this time for its own technology. This is "Tuned by Technics" designed to offer good levels of audio without saturation. Something that will be as long as we watch movies, TV shows or are playing games.
It is a technology that consists of a dynamic speaker that is divided into eight multi-speaker units. So, in a single speaker there are four woofers, four squawkers and two tweeters. In addition to having a quadruple passive radiator that serves to increase the bass. In short, it sounds great and promises great quality.
Panasonic has claimed that there will be a 40% increase in audio over the same range last year. But all of this is accomplished without the need to increase the size or make changes to the design. So there has been great work by the brand in this regard. Something that consumers expect to value positively.
Price and Availability
All four Panasonic models will be launched in the first half of 2018, both in Europe and the United States. But the exact date has not yet been revealed.
