Pebble cannot stand the pull of the market and is bought by Fitbit

Pebble

A few years ago, when no one thought about the possibility of enjoying a watch that would notify us at all times of the notifications we received, the guys from Pebble came to Kickstarter and presented a device that allowed it to be done at a very affordable price. Pebble became a reference in the smartwatch market, but it has not been able to adapt to the modern era, where current models offer us a full color screen, and perform the same functions as their predecessors, also at practically the same price as the Pebble, which in recent years have increased the price of the latest models they have launched on the market.

Pebble

Being a consolidated company in the market, many people were surprised that Kickstarter continue to allow him to create campaigns to seek financing for his new models, as we have seen in the last launches of the company, launches that despite having been successful, do not allow the company to continue operating independently in the market. Fitbit has taken advantage of Pebble's weakness to buy it and mainly take advantage of its operating system, an operating system that will help greatly improve the interface and connectivity of the Fitbit models.

As reported by the Financial Times, the purchase is practically confirmed. But Fitbit will not only take advantage of the operating system, it will also benefit from patents registered in Pebble's name. If Fibit had only been interested in the operating system, it would have been much cheaper to create it from scratch than to buy Pebble for a figure that will not exceed 40 million dollars.

According to this post, Pebble line of watches will be discontinued. What we know is if the latest models that were presented a few months ago will continue to be sent to customers or if the company will cancel the product and stop sending them to all those who bet on the new Pebble models, some models that were still anchored in the past.

The truth is that I am ignorant and did not know Pebble, but in my opinion the best thing they could have done is destroy everything, operating system, patents, etc etc and that Fitbit creates them from scratch with those 40 million, solved.
I hope they do not give them just enough or less to pay their debts if they have them, and that they can use that money to do something new again and go to fuck Fitbit, whatever it is that I don't know either ... but it seems like the history of always….
