Skitch is an interesting application that you can use on both personal computers and mobile devices, having a very special feature over other similar tools and that is that you can get to focus with the camera and right there, start drawing certain lines.
Skitch has a special version for each platform, which suggests having to download and install both on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS mainly. In the latter (mobile devices) the interface can vary a bit compared to what we would find on a personal computer. In this article we will mention the way Skitch works on a Windows computer.
Recognizing the Skitch interface in Windows
When you head towards the official website to download Skitch, you must choose the correct version according to the device with which you are going to work. Obviously if we want to have this application on an iPad or an Android tablet, we must navigate from said devices to the site and thus, choose the respective version.
It should also be clarified that within the download versions there is a version for Windows 8, the same as it will only have to be used if we have a touch screen, otherwise we will have to use the version of Desktop, which is also compatible with lower versions of this operating system; The image that we placed above is a capture of the Skitch interface once we run it for the first time in Windows, while the image that we will place below shows us in a summarized way, the most important options that we can use it.
- Tools. With this menu we have the possibility to create arrows, write texts, draw a rectangle, a line among other alternatives.
- Screenshot. If we click or touch the inverted down arrow, the options that we can admire in said image will appear. There we could choose to capture a screen, work in full screen, import a file from our hard drive, work on a blank document and even bring an image found on the clipboard.
- Sign in. If you have an EverNote account, then you should select that option to enter the respective credentials; If you don't have it, you can open an account from right here. What you process with your images you can send it directly to this account.
- Share. You also have the possibility to share what you have done here, on the networks of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even create a URL to copy it to the clipboard.
If you activate the screen capture or you are working with the camera on your mobile device, you can start drawing with any of the elements that we mention in the area of the Tools; in our case we have imported into a file, managing to notice that a small options bar appears on the left side.
The image placed above shows what each of these options has for us to choose from, which are largely those that we describe in the area of Tools previously. If you are working with a mobile device (an iPad for example) you will be able to notice a small bubble on the left side and another small option on the right side. The bubble on the left side will help us select the colors of the elements that we are going to draw, while the icon on the right side will make all the options of the Tools.
For example, if we choose to draw an arrow with a specific color, we will only have to select the one that we like the most from the color palette and later, the arrows icon that is located at the top. After that, just by using the pointer of our mouse and starting to draw a line, the arrow will be perfectly drawn.
We also have the possibility of writing words, using a marker or simply scribbling in any corner of the photograph or capture that we have imported into Skitch; the best news of all is that the application is free, being able to make any type of drawings with a special dye, to share with friends or simply, to save them on our computer and also in our EverNote account.
