psp slim

Working has its advantages. Almost none, but it does. For example they pay you. And so I have been able to buy the new PSP Slim in Ice Silver color (gray to understand us). I will comment on my impressions.

Comparisons are not hateful.

I bought the Slim and my brother has the classic, the one they now call Fat. When I finally saw the new model presented back in the summer, I was quite disappointed. I was expecting a revision like the one the Nintendo DS had. Surely given the physical characteristics of the PSP that was impossible. However, I am quite surprised to see the end result in my own hands.

The changes.

The first thing that stands out is the weight. It is very light! When you take it you realize that it is a technological marvel. Remember that after the diet you have lost 33% of your weight. It definitely shows a lot. The downside is that the material it is made of is shiny plastic (aluminum would have been incredible) and it seems that you have a toy in your hands. As soon as you turn it on and see what it is capable of, that feeling goes away.

The size is also evident, it is as fine as it could be. Really comfortable. The old PSP looks like a brick next to it.

The screen is still 4,3 ″ but a bit brighter. I don't notice any special difference, perhaps the material from which it is made. It is similar to Sony laptops if you have seen a relatively new one. It reflects quite a bit when off but that helps to bring out the blacks once it works.

The arrow keys look the same although I have read that they improve the diagonals. I have not had a chance to verify it. The analog stick offers a bit more resistance, yet is softer. It's nice to move it. The buttons respond the same as those on the Play remote. No more problem with the square, which was more difficult to press. In general the feeling is more positive.

Finally, the internal memory has been doubled. That makes games load faster. For example, Midnight Club 3 was unbearable. The game itself was wonderful but the loading times even between the menus made it unplayable. But now he's back to be my king. That they have doubled the internal memory is not a trivial question. An example: on my PC, when I had 512 MB of RAM I tried the Doom 3 out of curiosity. Until I had 1 GB I did not seriously play it. The fluidity was the same, but charging much faster made a difference. Perhaps you have experienced something similar.

Little flaws.

The most obvious is that the light from the screen filters through a slit in the analog controller and through the square. I've seen it in two PSP Slims, one slipped more than the other. It bothers a bit when the light is off. If not, it is not appreciated.

Plastic, as I said before, is a bit seedy. It was more consistent on the Fat and I don't understand why they haven't used aluminum like iPod. In addition, the appearance in the study images and the real one varies for the worse. And it's an obvious variation, a bit like the hamburgers in the commercials and the ones you eat later.

Finally the box. It costs € 170 but it comes with just enough. That is, the PSP and the power cord. No headphones, no case, no memory stick ... no USB cable. Yes, surely you do not need to buy some of those things because you already have them from other devices, but it gives the feeling that these from Sony are a little rats.

Conclusion.

It is a recommended purchase. Some will wonder if it is easy to load emulators and this kind of thing. Well, having a hacked classic PSP can be done. There are a few steps to follow but they are not difficult. And then everything goes smoothly.

Sony has done a good job. However, there is still a workhorse: games. In future posts I will comment on this. But I can already see that in Gamespot, although they are always tough scoring points, there are none that exceed 8.5. And in Meristation almost.
