Wiko Ufeel Prime, we tell you how this mid-range surprises us [REVIEW]

We are in an age where mid-range devices are increasingly attracting more attention. Certainly the high-end Android makes less and less sense, at least when companies like Wiko, whose motto is "Game Changer", And so much that he wants to change the rules of the game, and today we are talking about a device that despite the price it has on the market, not a single detail is missing. But as you well know, en Actualidad Gadget What we like is to analyze this type of device so that you know what you are facing in a market saturated with smartphones, let's go there with the review of the Ufeel Prime.

As always, our modus operandi is to analyze each of the basic pillars of these electronic devices, so we make it easy for you by navigating between the different characteristics of it. That is why we order everything properly and easily, so that you do not have the slightest doubt.

Design, a strong point

We face a mid-range phone ... sure? You will find it hard to believe when you hold the Wiko Ufeel Prime for the first time. Indeed, the back is composed of a metallic chassis, brushed aluminum with the Wiko logo very well implanted and that will undoubtedly attract the eyes of those who do not know the brand. In the upper and lower part it is riveted in plastic of a color identical to that of aluminum, more than necessary for the coverage to arrive correctly, but it will be difficult to differentiate from aluminum at first glance.

In the center of the back we find the camera and a dual flashHowever, despite the fact that it is a double flash, we do not find different shades, that is, both flashes emit white light, which undoubtedly provides important illumination in dark situations, but that could give too blue shades to the time to take pictures.

Light the upper part, where we will only find the classic 3,5-inch jack, and very fine turn at the bottom, double slots for microphone, speakers and the microUSB input. On the left side we have the button panel, deliciously riveted also in aluminum, and on the right side the classic slot for SIM and microSD cards.

In short, the Ufeel Prime measures up in terms of materials and design, since the front also counts with almost 70% of the total on the screen with 2.5D glass, flash for the front camera and a home button with fingerprint reader fingerprints in mechanical format, with a stable path and a notification LED. Without a doubt, the phone more than meets today's design and material standards.

Hardware, at the height of design, quality and power

Were you expecting a MediaTek processor? Forget it, we are facing a mid-range that intends to sneak into the pockets of those who love quality devices. We find a processor Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ 430 MSM8937 Octa-Core 1.4 GHz, Cortex-A53, accompanied by an Adreno 505 GPU, that is, you will be able to run almost all the applications in the Google PlayStore without problems. But if you expected it to end here, squeeze the sides of the chair because the good is coming, no less than 4GB of RAM, which will ensure that the device will resist not only the execution of current applications, but future Android updates.

As for the network card, we find LTE-Cat 4, so we can enjoy the usual 4G in the telephone companies of the country. On the other hand, we will have WiFi of up to 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, enough to browse, download content and enjoy wirelessly. It goes without saying that we have Bluetooth 4.1.

In case now what you worry about is storage, there this Wiko Ufeel Prime is also up to the task, 32GB of internal storage as standard, enough for the vast majority of smartphone users, however, the most gourmets will be able to take advantage of the SIM card tray to add a microSD card and reach a total of 64GB. Taking advantage of the fact that we are talking about the microSD card, we remind you that we are facing a dualSIM device, using two nanoSIM cards if we do not take advantage of the microSD slot.

Screen and audio to consume content everywhere

We are here in a standard size, 5 inches with a Full HD panel (1920 × 1080), which gives us no less than 441 pixels per inch. Something that catches our attention as soon as we use it is that we have a fairly high contrast and color, an LCD panel with 2,5D glass that is pleasant to the touch and with a digitizer that works honestly well, in fact on some occasions like when we are watching videos it is quite sensitive. As for the brightness, 460 bits of brightness, something that may sound totally irrelevant to you, but that ensures good luminosity. However, it seems that it is the panel that makes us lose a bit of clarity outdoors in direct light situations, this is one of the weak points of the Wiko Ufeel Primer, it defends itself but does not stand out. Considering the price of the device, we forgive you almost without hesitation.

As to relatively powerful audio with a mono arrangement you would expect less power, something common in devices of this range, however, in this aspect once the Wiko Ufeel brings us a smile again. However, at the highest levels the volume begins to distort, so we would not recommend abusing the sound power in outdoor circumstances, but the volume is above average for devices.

The fingerprint sensor reaches all users

Now you can stop making eyes at expensive devices with a fingerprint reader. The Wiko Ufeel Prime puts it at your fingertips in a spectacular way. Incredulous user of an iPhone 6s who leaves his mark with little hope and sees how it works 99% of the time the first time. Unlike other devices and other brands in the same range whose readers are sometimes more of a hindrance than an addition.

In addition, the Wiko Ufeel Prime fingerprint reader is accompanied by a tactile and mechanical button at the same time, we can take advantage of it by giving it a single touch to return to the beginning, or press it at will. A route that is not too high, but that is pleasant. The fingerprint reader has a considerable size and is surrounded by a metal ring that in its white version gives a distinguished touch. In short, it is a good way to democratize a technology that is already within everyone's reach.

This is the camera of the Wiko Ufeel Prime

We start with the rear, 13MP with a Sony sensor, the IMX 258, a 5p lens that features a blue optical filter. But these are pure numbers, so at the beginning of this section we have left you a test of what the Wiko Ufeel Prime is capable of outdoors in the middle of the afternoon, and a little lower than what it is capable of indoors with artificial lighting. The camera is what you would expect from a mid-range device, we cannot ask too much of it in rebellious light conditions, it is capable of taking pictures that will allow us to comply, but if you are a lover of photography, this is not your phone, nor you're looking in the right range. In short, the rear camera of the Ufeel Prime meets what you would expect from a device of this price.

We go to the front camera, 8MP with a selfie flash that has quite a bit of dangerWhile it is true that it can get us out of a tight spot in almost complete darkness, sometimes the "on-screen flash" is better, since this flash is literally too powerful for some selfies. However, it is an added detail in the age of the selfie. It should be remembered that the post-processing of the photographs taken with the front camera is notorious, eliminating impurities and noise in the most delicate way, without a doubt its front camera will captivate the younger sector of the public, although it could anger a photography purist (here present).

Pros

  • Materials and design
  • Processor and RAM
  • Price quality

Cons

  • Post-processed front camera
  • On-screen buttons

For almost two weeks I have used the Wiko Ufeel Prime as one of the two main devices that I always carry in my pockets. From the first moment I saw it I knew that I was facing something surprising and it has been so, so much so that it will be difficult for me to let go of it. However, I can't help but give Wiko a little slap on the wrist for its important layer of customization, despite running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the icon pack and its layout could mislead Android purists.

You can buy the Wiko Ufeel Prime on Amazon for only € 230, in white / silver, gold and anthracite, with the fronts according to the back (something to be thankful for). An incredibly good price for a device that has made the cut since the same day I took it out of its box and which I highly recommend its purchase for those who handle similar budgets.

Pros

  • Materials and design
  • Processor and RAM
  • Price quality

Cons

  • Post-processed front camera
