Samsung could change the way we understand the world of photography

As it is beginning to happen with the world of chips, because we need more and more raw power in terms of data processing, in the world of photography many are the companies that try to revolutionize their characteristics and capabilities in different ways . In the specific case of Samsung directly, as they have published, apparently they want create a sensor capable of functioning as if it were a human eye.

To achieve this, the Korean company has decided to use the processor TrueNorth, created by IBM based on the structure of the human brain and equipped with no less than 4.096 neurosynaptic nuclei and 5.4 billion transistors, all with a consumption of only 0,0063 watts, literally a fraction of what a home CPU consumes today anyone.

Thanks to IBM's TrueNorth processor, Samsung could revolutionize the world of photography.

During the first tests carried out by Samsung making use of this chip-brain adapted to work with what they themselves have baptized as Dynamic Vision Sensor, a photographic sensor that works in a similar way to the human retina, there is talk of quite surprising results since, apparently, a camera could be able to process digital images at an impressive speed, even recording videos at 2.000 frames per second.

Thanks to these impressive features, the camera created by Samsung would be ideal, for example, to improve gesture recognition systems, create maps in three dimensions and even for use in autonomous cars since they would help them to detect possible dangers much better. On the other hand, we must emphasize that the camera only consumes 300 milliwatts which is one hundredth of what a conventional laptop consumes, for example.
