After a year of work they have managed to go from 15'36 TB which at that time offered its most powerful SSD drive to 30'72 TB of which the unit that has just been presented to the public shows. This unit, baptized as PM1643, can offer such storage capacity thanks to the use of the company's new 512 Gb V-NAND memories.

According to the press release published by Samsung itself, the new PM1643 is a hard drive that can offer a 400.000 IOPS read speed while, as for deed, this speed drops to 50.000 IOPS. If you look at the speed of sequential read and write, this SSD is capable of working in the 2.100 MB / s and 1.700 MB / s respectively. To put this data in context a bit, just tell you that this speed literally becomes triple that of its predecessor.
On a technical level, this new SSD disk has been manufactured from the use of nothing less than 32 x 1TB V-NAND chips. For its part, each of these chips is composed of 16 stacked layers of 512Gb V-NAND chips. In order to unify this entire system and make it work properly, Samsung engineers and designers have opted for the use of a high speed controller which stands out for using a new firmware as well as having no less than 40 GB of RAM.
In case we do not need such a special unit with so much storage capacity, for different reasons but we do need its internal technology, Samsung has created nothing less than a new range of products where we find SSD disks of 1'92, 3'84, 7'68, 15'36 and 30'72 TB, undoubtedly a very powerful bet on this type of market which, in turn, is traditionally the one that usually brings the most benefits to this division of the Korean brand.
