Seagate launches a 60TB SSD in just 3,5 inches

SSD storage is increasingly developed, becoming a clear alternative to mechanical hard drives, which from my point of view, have their days numbered. SSDs are becoming more reliable, cheaper and have more storage. Seagate, as always, is at the forefront in the development of this technology, along with Samsung, another of the greats when it comes to SSDs. But this time we talk about Seagate, which has just introduced a 60TB SSD in just 3,5 inches, with many possibilities in terms of adaptation and a storage capacity worth considering.

These 60TB are far for me, above all because I use a "only" 128GB SSD in my work computer. These 60TB they will allow us to store around 12.000 DVD movies or 400 million photos (Don't you hallucinate? I do). But they are not going to stay here, the spokesperson has said that the idea is to reach 100TB in the next few months. We can definitely consider the HDD for dead, the development of its technology has come to an end, and the SSD is already an almost indispensable element in newly acquired computers, for me it is impossible to recommend a computer that does not have an SSD or it is not possible to replace the mechanical one for a solid one.

This SSD has a classic PCIe input and uses AccelStor technology that will offer the highest possible data transmission speed. Meanwhile, they have also announced a more commercial 8TB SSD, with the same data processing technology, the so-called Nytro XP7200 NVMs that we will see in the last quarter of this 2016. As for the 60TB SSD, we will have to wait until mid-2017 at least, although perhaps the price will not be available to everyone.
