Sharp formalizes the purchase of Toshiba's PC division

Sharp

Eight years ago Sharp was exiting the computer market. But, after this time, the firm is back. Why today announced the purchase of 80% of Toshiba's PC division. An operation that has cost about 4.000 million yen (approximately 36 million dollars) has already been confirmed and officially announced.

Through Sharp itself, it takes almost total control of this division of the firm's computers. With this operation they would be trying to give Toshiba a new boost, which has lost ground in this segment over the years, to the advancement of brands such as HP, Lenovo or Dell.

In addition, taking into account that there are segments of this market in which remarkable growth is being seen, Sharp and Toshiba may want to focus on the same. So that the brand can regain some of the glory of a few years ago.

Although so far Sharp has not commented on the plans they have for this division of computers. Nor do we know if they will be launched under the name Toshiba or if with this operation Sharp wants to return to the computer market after eight years of absence.

Undoubtedly, this operation is a good first step to enter the market again. Since they have just been made with one of the most important manufacturers in Asia. So computer production is not going to be a problem for them from now on.

We look forward to hearing more about Sharp and Toshiba's plans in the coming weeks.. Surely, once the operation has been formalized, plans will already be started. So shortly we will be able to know more about it. What do you think about this operation? Was it a good decision?
