Nova Launcher is simply the best launcher we have on Android. It has several very striking features among which we can highlight its ability to be on par with everything that is integrated as a novelty in Android with those major updates that are released every year. If it already surprised us for its adaptation to Pixel Launcher, the new app launcher, now does it again.
And it is that yesterday it was updated to beta 5.0 to bring with it a very striking novelty. This is that now you can use the shortcuts of the apps that are in Android 7.1 Nougat from Nova Launcher, even if you have Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. Not only does it stay here with that striking novelty, but it updates the search bar with the ability to display the time.
All shortcuts that you can use in Nova Launcher are these:
- System settings: Wifi, battery and data usage
- Google Docs/ sheets / slides: new document and search
- Maps: Home and work
- gmail: compose an email
- Calendar: new event, new reminder
- Google Photos: get lucky and free up space
- Play Music: get lucky, my library, recent activity
- Play Store: My apps
- Google: type search, voice search
- Keep: new note, list, photo, audio
- Todoist Beta: add task, search, today
You make a long press on the icon of the app on the desktop, and you will get a menu with the shortcuts to certain actions. These shortcuts can be unlinked from the icon and taken to another space on the desktop. For example, you click on the icon of the Play Store, the option of "My apps" appears, you make a long press on that access and drag it to any other site to leave it there and you can access it quickly with a simple press.
The other novelty is the time inclusion in the information that appears next to the new search bar to the Pixel Launcher. Access the beta from the APK that we share below.
