The truth is that since iOS came to the market as a product, Apple has always defended that this operating system and macOS were two completely different products designed to fulfill completely different purposes, due to this, at least in the short term, it is practically impossible to unify them in a single operating system despite the fact that, as you surely know, in recent years we have been able to see how Apple itself was the that adapted certain functionalities of the Mac to the iPhone and vice versa.

Based on the patent filed by Apple, we discovered that they have been working on how to turn an iPhone or iPad into a laptop. As you can see, they are willing to design a kind of laptop-like accessory which should provide functionalities that are not currently available on an iPhone or iPad such as the option of using a larger touch screen, more graphics power, better sound, a physical keyboard, new ways to connect peripherals and even greater autonomy.
As a detail, it is especially striking that the patent itself makes it clear that we would be facing a mere accessory that would not be able to function without an iPhone or iPad connected. Taking into account the great capacity of Apple processors and especially how they evolve with each new product, it would not be strange to think that in the not too distant future these same chips could be the nerve center of any computer.
