Sony could be the manufacturer of the Galaxy S8 batteries

Smartphone battery

Samsung SDI and LG have been, among others, the main companies that have had all the ballots to be in charge of manufacturing the batteries for the next terminals that Samsung will launch on the market. Last October, we echoed a rumor that claimed thate the agreement between LG and Samsung was closed for Samsung's rival to take over manufacturing of the batteries through LG Chemical, Korea's largest chemical company. But it seems that this is not going to be the case, since according to The Wall Street Journal newspaper, the person in charge of the manufacture of the batteries will be the Japanese Sony, another company that has a complete division dedicated to the manufacture of this type of battery. components.

It seems that despite having found the problem that affected the batteries of the Galaxy Note 7, the design on the one hand and the manufacturing defects in the second batch, Samsung wants to be sure that it would count on Sony for the batteries of the Galaxy S8 . Like LG and Samsung, Sony's battery division operates independently from the one that makes the devices, as well as the division that focuses on designing and manufacturing the components of the cameras of smartphones that integrate a large number of devices on the market.

Despite that Samsung has increased control over all batteries, it seems that the multinational Sony offers more guarantees, at least until copy the quality plan of the Japanese firm in its subsidiary Samsung SDI, in order to ensure that the batteries it manufactures are suitable for the devices. Taking into account that the sales of the Galaxy Note 7 have hardly affected the company's results, the year that we have just passed will not be one that the Korean company remembers fondly.
