SPC Smartee Sport, we tested this low cost, high performance watch

As always we are back in Actualidad Gadget with the best reviews of products that are within your reach and that of practically everyone. The panorama of smart watches seems to be adapting little by little to the needs of any user, both in terms of functionalities and in terms of the price catalog, hence SPC has made another great effort to democratize technologyto one more time.

This time we have in our hands, or rather on our wrists, the SPC Smartee Sport, the second generation of this watch that maintains the price but grows intensely in quality, functions and capabilities. Stay with us and take an in-depth look at the SPC Smartee Sport, the smartwatch that is attracting many looks due to its content.

As always, we are going to do an intense tour of the main characteristics of it, therefore, if you want to go directly to according to which sections, we recommend that you use the index that we have left at the top of this analysis. Without further delay we go there with the review of the Samartee Sport by SPC, the French firm returns with this good, beautiful and cheap watch.

Design and materials of the Smartee Sport

We must first remember that there are two versions of this watch, the Pop and Sport the 9620N edition, which physically do not differ too much beyond the fact that the Sport is much more sober, built in black and gray plastics, while the Pop version (cheaper) is built in very colorful and striking plastics. But we start with the first thing that focuses our eyes, that totally round dial, the watch will quickly remind us of any other sports watch from brands like Casio, the panel is totally round (without cutouts at the bottom) and is surrounded by the stopwatch.

Although it has a fully tactile interface, the right side includes three buttons, one upper and one lower, that allow us to navigate between the functions, and especially a digital crown in the style of the one that mounts the Apple Watch that acts as a button and a wheel, It will make it much easier for us to navigate through the user interface, the reality is that we found it quite comfortable, and above all a detail to take into account in a product within this low price range. The buttons add robustness to the complex watch, as they are made of a metallic material and neither dance nor appear unstable.

In the back we have a charging port using magnetized pins, which facilitates charging, accompanied in turn by sensors, such as the heart rate. While the straps seem standard size (which will allow us to make them interchangeable with a little information), they are created in silicone. They are honestly not the prettiest straps we can imagine, but the nickname Sport still present, They are resistant, durable and fulfill their function, for sports they are more than good.

Little else we can refer to the design, the dial chronometer is not a movable piece, and the casing is made of matt black polycarbonate, once again resistance and durability prevail over elegance. It is important to note that it is not a thick watch, we found it surprisingly light and thin considering what the competition offers, I would dare to say that it is thinner for example than the Moto360 or almost the same as the Samsung Gear S3 (which also gives an interesting air). It weighs a total of 62,5 grams in dimensions of 265 x 46 x 14,5 millimeters.

Hardware-level features

Let's go inside, what is the hardware that hides this Smartee Sport, since of course in terms of design we find everything we expect, a comfortable, functional and resistant watch. We start with its RAM, "only" 64 MB, which is what most devices with these characteristics usually contain, we have not found any kind of deficiency in the operating system, so we presume that it is more than enough RAM. Note that it lacks internal memory, it has 128 MB of ROM memory, where we imagine that all previously installed native content is stored.

The screen is 1,3-inch fully circular with an IPS panel, otherwise the watch would be quite difficult to see in bright light. Despite the fact that in terms of brightness we are not crazy about contrasts, the reality is that it shows more than enough for daily use (we have not seen automatic brightness settings either). The resolution of the panel is 240 x 204, where we have not found any real deficiencies, beyond those that can be expected from a device of these characteristics, sufficient resolution to drag to its operating system.

As for the battery we have 350 mAh, and now for the good news, it promises us a duration of up to 9 hours using the GPS that includes, 3 days making a regular use by connection Bluetooth 4.1 and up to 7 days in Standby. Our tests have given us two and a half days of autonomy with regular use of physical tracking and mobile notifications without GPS.

Smartee Sport Features

This is where the interesting thing comes from, despite having its own Operating System we are a series of functionalities brilliantly adapted, with or without the linked Smartee app:

  • GPS
  • Altimeter
  • Barometer
  • Thermometer
  • Multisport functions
  • Objectives classification
  • Pedometer
  • Sleep monitor
  • Pulsometer
  • Voice assistant
  • Music and camera control (on Android)
  • Access to calls and calendar

These are the possibilities it offers, not one more, not one less. At least these that it offers, it executes them completely and without showing failures. If the altimeter and barometer do not have the precision offered by an autonomous device, it is enough to manage our sports activity. A truly endless number of possibilities that would undoubtedly satisfy a good number of ordinary athletes.

As a standard user of an Apple Watch I have to say that the performance of the Smartee Sport on both Android and iOS terminals has surprised me considering the price. Of course, you must bear in mind that the watch is designed by and for sport, as well as the fact that it includes a good number of sensors and quantifiers that not everyone will know how to take advantage of. Nevertheless, seeing the competition and the price offered by this Smarte Sport makes us think it through.

Pros

  • Screen
  • Size
  • Price

Cons

  • Sensor accuracy
  • Autonomy

In terms of use and notifications, it has not presented me with any type of problem, the notifications have been received instantly, but we must remember that they are neither interactive nor accumulated depending on the origin. On the other hand, autonomy is perhaps the darkest point, we would have to charge it approximately every two days with normal use of notifications with sound or vibration. Without a doubt, if you are an athlete for the love of art or an amateur, this watch will be more than enough, Despite the fact that the precision of its sensors such as the heart rate monitor, barometer and altimeter are not totally exact, they serve as references and the GPS is an addition that many users will appreciate. You can do with him on the SPC website or in stores like Amazon from € 129,90.

The watch meets half expectations ... It is not a water watch that is clear to me, but it is a sports watch, it must at least withstand sweat, right? It turns out that 6 months after buying it with a maximum use of 3 days a week and working perfectly I put it one day to charge and it does not charge. I call technical service, they pick it up and ... surprise! According to them, it is sulfated due to misuse and is not covered by the warranty. Is it due to a bad sealing of said piece?
