Spotify launches its new free version: More free music and goodbye to random mode

Spotify

Yesterday, April 24, the Swedish firm presented the news that will reach the free version of its streaming service. Spotify had promised major changes and has delivered. Good news for the 90 million users who use the company's free service. Since there are quite a few improvements included, including the end of the random mode, which was something that bothered consumers a lot.

But it is not the only novelty that Spotify has presented in this case. The Swedish company wants real changes with which to grow in the market and increase the number of users who make use of its services. Something they hope to achieve with these news. What more changes do they leave us?

Another change is that within the explore section we now find 40 hours of songs that we can listen to as many times as we want. It is music based on our tastes, so it can help us to discover new music. Spotify has made changes to the recommendation system, which will be based on the playlists we listen to regularly.

People who use Spotify in its free version cannot use the offline mode. Only paid users can enjoy this. But the Swedish company wants to promote this mode. For this they introduce a new function that will save up to 75% of data by pressing a switch. Although this feature is going to take a few weeks to arrive.

Changes to the design of the Spotify application also await us. Recommended music gains prominence on the home page. Also, the Radio section will now be a bit sidelined. Since the stations have been replaced by the playlists. So these playlists gain a lot of prominence on the home page.

These changes are starting to come to Spotify. Although it will be a matter of weeks before all of them are officially available to all users.
