Astrid was one of the best apps we had on Android a few years ago for to-do lists. Some of its characteristics, such as location reminders, were very well received and for them it managed to rise as one of the best apps for productivity. The only thing that disappeared from the Google Play Store to make way for others like the great Todoist.
Tasks is one of those open source apps that has come to occupy the empty space left by Astrid, mostly as a free app that offers a variety of features without going through the checkout. The monetization of Tasks is due to certain customizations that allow you to put the icing on the cake, although the truth is, they are not needed to get the most out of it.
This app was recently updated and brought with it some very interesting news such as the featured topics, the sync with Google Tasks, Google Keep labels and many other advantages, such as that appropriately improved desktop widget to have some extra.
Those extras include the option to switch between night or day mode, additional themes (they can be purchased for micropayments) and the ability to label Google Keep-style to-do lists with colors and all. These colored labels allow you to categorize and classify all those notes well, which gives you a great point in your favor to compete against Todoist, one of the best in this category.
The widget has received some improvement such as those themes and colors, and the ability to modify transparency through the slider; this way you can customize the widget. In its basic options it has location reminders, smarts tasks and a well-kept interface that shows that developers know what they are doing.
