NHTSA, the most important organization in charge of carrying out safety tests on all types of cars, has recently certified the Tesla Model X as the safest SUV in the world.

However, the NHTSA (acronym for National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) is the American institution that, among other things, is in charge of testing the resistance of automobiles in a wide range of situations. The Tesla Model X has recently become the safest “SUV” type car in the world after achieving a rating of 5 stars out of 5 in all the tests it underwent by NHTSA. In a context in which sales of SUVs have increased considerably in recent years, and taking into account that Tesla is a very attractive brand among car buyers, this new certification is a significant achievement for the American manufacturer.
Since the Tesla Model X is being marketed in multiple versions, all of them underwent the same set of tests and, to the surprise of NHTSA experts, all models got the same rating.

What's more, based on test results, the Tesla X scored the highest safety score for both the frontal impact, such as for side impacts and rollovers.
The most interesting part of the test is that NHTSA engineers weren't even able to overturn a Tesla Model X as part of a dynamic test. In the end, whatever the circumstances, the experts determined that there is only a 9.3% probability that a Tesla Model X will experience a rollover in the event of an accident. This low probability is due to the excellent stability offered by the electric motor, electric traction and its extremely low center of gravity thanks to the batteries that are placed in the lower part of the vehicle.
In the end, the Tesla Model X was rated as the safest "SUV" car in the world, while the Tesla Model S is the safest "luxury sedan" in the world, according to NHTSA itself.
