Testing Try me blogger!

Domingo, August 12, 2007, the first published post only contains two sentences with the following sentence «Hahaha, I already have a blog ... and now conquer the world!!«. Four months later and coinciding with the publication of this analysis, I find this title »Blog with healthy aspirations ... (nothing to conquer the world or things like that)«. Lack of memory? Maybe it's just a bit of the irony that comes off try me blogger! (or not)…

Try Me Blogger header

Dputting jokes aside ... well it is impossible to leave them because this blog is dedicated precisely to showing own and other people's humor collected from the most remote corners of the Internet. This is the theme of this blog and from its header it announces it clearly. But does it achieve its goal of being fun? … Yes, but only in part.

Dlet's make things clear from the first point, What is the vocation of this blog?. If it is a personal blog with which its author (in theory there are several but only posts mr blogger) he only pretends to have a fun place to share with his friends and some occasional visitor, I think he achieves his goal more than enough. The site is entertaining and has enough update frequency to be interesting. But if you hope to get more visits you will have to change some things.

Ethis blog he has nothing to reproach himself for Directly, you cannot say that it is not updated, that its design is sloppy, that the themes are not interesting, or anything like that. It could be said that quite the opposite, the blog complies with all these aspects and also the posts are well written and without spelling mistakes.

What is missing from this blog then?

EThe design is correct, but the used template is too common and the first impression when arriving at the site is that it will be one more blog. Chains too many videos in a row and we already know that sometimes it drives browsers crazy, it is not good that this happens. You missing text to articles, no text Google do not eat and if you do not feed the seeker, it will pass from you. And last and most importantly if you want the site to grow, the content.

PFor a blog to grow, whatever the subject, it needs inbound links. The published content is very interesting, entertaining and fun, but it publishes too much of well-known sites. Most visiting bloggers try me blogger! They will find that they had already read those posts in other places and consequently they will rarely link mr blogger

For every comment I eat a reindeer

The good thing about all this

Pthe good thing about all this is that everything has an «easy» solution. Add more texts to the articles, with opinion not filler, publish more articles read directly in another language (it already does in some such as Unpublished facts? Chuck Norris and others ...) and look for a less hackneyed template or if you are comfortable with the one you have, at least change the colors to make it look different.

Por last should strive to create more own content (although I am aware that this is the most difficult) and learn a little more about SEO issues. Nowadays it is not possible (in a blog that aspires to have visits) that the name of the blog appear in each of the title of the site. To improve in SEO techniques I recommend if you already have an idea on the subject, MP3d - SEO Positioning and Professional SEOIf you start from scratch, I think it is better to visit SEOTECA.

PTo conclude I want to remember that mr blogger and try me blogger! They have only been in the arena for four months, and that is when it can begin to grow. You already have the fundamental bases to do it, you just need to polish and work. I hope I am not wrong and see how little by little mr blogger gets an attractive blog equally, for search engines, visitors and bloggers. Vinegary greetings.

I'll be honest, I think the site is missing several things and several are bad malevolent:
1st) It opens a pop-up page when you enter
2nd) You can do horizontal scrolling, something very annoying if you have to do it to see the content (this is not the case), but the bar is at the bottom and it kind of "dirties" and subtracts space from the blog
3rd) I don't like the design, the sidebar seems quite disorganized
4th) The buttons below are very pixelated

Well, those are my little criticisms. I hope mr blogger takes us into account to make a few modifications to the blog 🙂

Well, you have fixed several things, you have the design and the sidebar. To organize the sidebar I recommend that you change the color of the titles, white is difficult to read (I don't know, is my opinion) and put more useful things. Because the only thing I find useful there is the subscribe button and the bottom file of everything. So maybe you put those 2 above, add the categories, and the rest below. And the sidebar is also capitalized (believe me, it looks better)
PS: Bad news, the pop-up is still there

uhm ... I didn't get away with the epiphany ... I'll take a better look at it to see who is the culprit.

Well, I think now I did remove the famous pop-up (I hope!). Anyway, I think the file should go higher, but I would not put it on top of the strips. I know they are not useful from my blog's point of view, but they give it some vibe (it counteracts the design effect a bit). The thing about changing the white color of the letters ... I would darken the background color, so that it stands out more. The capitalization thing ... is because of the theme. Trust me, I have capital letters there. A matter of doing some more research and changing the style.

Well I see there is movement around here. As for the pop-up thing, it didn't show up in firefox and I didn't realize it, I'll have to start taking a look at IE sites. And it is good to do the design changes little by little and when you feel like it. The important thing is the content and if the design accompanies better. A greeting and thanks for comment.

Vinegar, Firefox launches pop-up warning 🙂
So, either I hate the page, or you should be able to see it 🙂

Still bugging the pop up? joer! Well, I don't get them in firefox or in opera or in explorer, but I'll have a look again tomorrow on another computer just in case.

Well, I think I eliminated the problem of titles (I had not stopped to look at them, really, and if I had, I never would have thought that it would affect positioning so much). It took me a while, since you cannot change from the blogger's menus, and it is not trivial to do it by hand by retouching the template.

It is necessary to embed highly specialized code for that (using the widget api it seems that someone managed to reverse the order blog title - news title and decided to drop the code so that people like me can use it with impunity: P).

I also tweaked the color of the sidebar, so that the white and blue of the titles and normal text stand out more and are easier to read, as well as the order of some elements of the sidebar.

Anyway, I think it has been a very productive day. Now to rest!.

It is good to receive criticism to be able to improve little by little, and for that I signed up here.

On the "redesign of the design" thing, one day I'll get to it. I know it is a very typical design, but it still seems elegant, sober and functional to me, so I have only tweaked it a little, "liquefying" it a bit and a bit more (which perhaps has caused some browsers to remove scroll bars; I'll have to test how it looks with opera and explorer ... or rather only with explorer -I trust opera: P-).

The thing about the pop-up page, as I had not noticed (I navigate with firefox using noscript). It must be one of the additions to the statistics pages, which has taken more liberties from the account, and I am already taking a long time to remove it !. The buttons ... I suppose they are like this because they are stretched so that they all have the same width.

Finally, I would like some advice on how I should best organize the sideber.

Well I think I have fixed the popup and horizontal scroll bar bugs, ah! and the pixelation of the buttons (now they adjust more to their natural size and do not pixelate as much).

Now there is a facelift, and increase the share of own content ...

Anyway, even if the contents are "borrowed", I usually invest a little work in completing / complementing them, which should also count ...

As for too many videos in a row ... the truth is that half of the post with videos could be split and published in separate parts ... (also, just thinking that you press a month to see all the posts, with browsers having more than five videos in a row ...)

    The pop-up is gone 🙂

  11.   Killer Vinegar said

@Frikiman firefox hates you, I neither saw it in its day nor did I see it after you said it 😉

@manolo great about the titles, what I wonder is if that code allows you, in addition to reversing the order, to directly remove the name of your blog from the end of the title. I say this so that you improve the density of keywords in it.

    Why would it be?
The SO? Or the firefox version?
