Dutch government stops using Kaspersky for security reasons

Kaspersky Lab

Since last year the United States is boycotting Kaspersky. According to the American government, and various of its agencies, the antivirus of the Russian firm shares data with the Putin government. For that reason, they recommend not to use it. A boycott to which stores have been added in America. Although nothing had happened in Europe until now.

However The Netherlands has become the first country in Europe to stop using Kaspersky. This has been confirmed by the Ministry of Justice and Security, with Minister Grapperhaus at the head. The decision was officially announced Monday night.

As commented from the ministry, Kaspersky antivirus is the only product that is discontinued by the government. The reason given is security, as the company complies with Russian law. Therefore, it shares data with the government of the country.

In addition, the relationship between the Netherlands and Russia has not been the best for about three years. So they do not want the Russian government to have in its hands data that affects the security of the country. Although they comment that so far there is no suspicion that there has been an attack or threat to security in the Netherlands.

This decision is a notable blow to Kaspersky. Since the American boycott has greatly affected the company, causing a decrease in its presence in the market. Now that this happens in Europe is a new problem. Since it could cause more countries to make this decision.

As more and more voices claim that Kaspersky is not entirely reliable, although so far there are no real indications. While the company continues to defend itself against all these accusations. But the reality is that they see how they are beginning to lose important clients.
