The latest update to the Opera browser focuses on improving speed

Man does not live on Google Chrome alone, although he currently has a market share of 55%, a share that he has won in part due to abandonment of Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge users. In the market we also have interesting alternatives such as Firefox, which focuses more on the privacy of users, something that Chrome precisely does not do, and Opera, who has just launched its latest version, number 43, focusing on improving both speed navigation as the overall performance of the browser. One of the novelties of this latest update is the preloading of web addresses.

This function allows the browser load the web page as we write the URL, in order to considerably reduce the loading time of the pages, although its operation may not be entirely correct, since the browser history reminds us of the URLs previously entered as we begin to write it, so very few users will write the full name to load the page, which in theory will prevent the page from loading in advance. In addition, this causes the browser to go to work at full throttle before real browsing has started, because it is internally loading the web page to be displayed even though we do not finally access it.

To try to improve on the figures that Microsoft and other experts have repeatedly put forward regarding battery life, Opera has introduced a new optimization method to reduce CPU consumption that has a direct impact on battery life, although the preloading of web pages is a contradiction for the optimization and care of the battery. Its operation in Windows has also been optimized so that it loads web pages faster and more efficiently. According to Opera, the latest version is 60,3% faster than Opera 42.

Finally, a function that many users will like is the possibility of select part of a text that contains a link, ideal for when we are looking for information about certain elements and we do not want to use the keyboard to type them.
