At the end of last year, in December, a rumor was made public that did not stop going around. The rumor pointed to the possible cPurchase of Pebble by Fitbit, a purchase that was confirmed by both companies, and that raised a great number of doubts among the users of the Pebble devices. The company announced that it would continue to offer support in the future, but did not clarify what type of support it would be. 3 months later we already know. Pebble has just launched an update to its app, both for iOS and Android, eliminating the use that the application made of its servers, servers that after the purchase of Fitbit had to stop working at some point.
The main novelty that this update brings us is related to the servers that were in charge of offering service to Pebble devicesas the device can work without these being available. In addition, the options to contact support, offer suggestions ... have been eliminated.
- The application allows Pebble devices to continue working if the servers are not available. The login process can be skipped, applications can be installed manually along with the latest firmware version, including language packs.
- Contact Support button has been removed, we can still export diagnostic information.
- Health data collection and telemetry services are no longer available.
- Suggestions are not available either.
- The synchronization of the heart rate and other physical activities will be done from now on with Google Fit on Android and the Health app on iOS.
