Many are the advances in robotics that we are experiencing in recent months, advances where all kinds of projects are sought to carry out the work that humans do today in our day to day life. Thanks to this we can learn about such interesting research as the one I want to present to you today where the Tokyo Institute of Technology has just developed an impressive skeleton endowed with artificial muscles capable of perfectly imitate any human joint.
According to the team of researchers in charge of this project, it seems that when developing this type of robot, the most difficult path has always been taken since, instead of trying to imitate the movement of muscles, all kinds of engineers and designers have tried create structures through mechanical and hydraulic systems much more difficult to control and develop.
This skeleton can perfectly imitate human movement
This new system is based on the creation of muscles through the mixture of several «fabrics»Made of microfilaments that, in addition to connecting each of the joints, can contract and expand so that any kind of movement can be executed in a much more similar way to how our own body would. To carry out all this project, we must create a robot, as is the case, where each element, for example the legs, have the same number of muscles as a human.
As you can see in the video that is located on these lines, the problem at the moment is that these artificial muscles, at the moment, are not strong enough for what the robot created needs a support machine to help you stand and walk. At the moment the project is still too green, so to speak, even so, its creators are already working on improving the response of the muscles so that they can expand and contract more quickly this way or in their strength.
