Twitter has already canceled more than 630.00 accounts linked to terrorism

For some time now, most technology companies that offer services on the Internet are doing everything possible to try to stop the communication channels of the main terrorist groups. These companies regularly publish transparency reports related to the progress they have made in this regard. The last company that has published information about its tasks in this regard has been Twitter. The social network run by Jack Dorsey has published a report in which he claims that since August 1, 2015, it has suspended a total of 636.248 accounts related to extremist terrorism.

In the last six months, Twitter has terminated 376.890 accounts related to terrorism, accounts that have been identified using the different tools that the companies have created, as we can read in the latest company statement. But it has not been the only method used by the company to detect these types of accounts, since users have sent different reports that have contributed to the company having eliminated 5.929 accounts. It is clear that all stone makes a wall and the help of users in this regard is also important.

In recent years, Twitter had become one of the most used tools by terrorists to promote separatism, racism, nationalists and simply hatred. The company is working together with People Against Violent Extremism to find all possible avenues of communication between terrorists and thus try to close them. The problem when closing an account is that two new ones are created quickly, just like in Greek mythology when a head was cut off from the Hydra of Lerna, but at least it slows down the communication channels between extremists, since As the new account is released, Twitter software continues to work to detect new accounts that fuel terrorism of any kind.
