Two weeks ago we had the opportunity to test video calls on WhatsApp thanks to the implementation of this feature in the beta program that has this messaging service on Google Play. Some video calls that are in addition to the audio calls that we have had for some time, for an app that in its beginnings was merely one for text messages.
Today the service owned by Facebook has announced that video calls are already available for all users on iOS, Android and Windows Phone. A novelty that is added to many others that have happened lately, such as the option to play voice notes in the background or the status functionality with which it is intended to imitate other services.
To use the new video calling feature, just click on the call button which is located in the upper right part of the screen where you chat with a friend or relative. A small pop-up window appears asking if you want to make an audio or video call.
During that call, you can change between the front or rear camera, mute it or click on the red button that just hangs up. The funny thing is that there are minimal differences between the iOS and Android call interface, such as the location and order of the screen elements such as the buttons or the video feed itself.
WhatsApp already offers a variety of cool features, but video calling has been one of the most requested according to themselves. This new capacity will put it fully to dispute the throne to several interesting apps such as Skype, FaceTime, Viber, Line and many others.
So, if you are a super fan of WhatsApp, now you can update and initiate a call to see your friends or family as they see you.
