Watch, that's the name of Facebook's streaming video platform

Streaming video platforms have become a more than common way to consume our favorite series, in addition to movies, although to a lesser extent, as and when we want. Netflix and HBO are the current kings and those who share the cake, but they are not the only ones, that nationally and internationally we can find others, although due to their catalog they are not so popular among users.

Facebook wants to get fully into this world of streaming with a new application / service called Watch, an application that will offer us not only content created by users in the YouTube style, but will also offer us both recorded and live programs, where users can interact at the time of broadcast.

But the idea of Facebook goes further, and according to a large number of rumors, the company is negotiating with Hollywood production companies the option to be able to broadcast movies and create your own television series like Netflix and HBO, but aimed at the young public. It will also focus on live sports broadcasting. At the moment Watch is available on a limited basis to a group of users in the United States, but as it is still in an early stage, the content it can offer is still very limited.

We do not know the idea that Facebook has about this service, that is, if you plan to offer it for free full of ads, a business model that will probably not be very successful, or offer a monthly subscription service like the competition you want to face. At the moment we just have to wait to see how this new Facebook streaming service evolves.

Some days ago Disney announced that for 2019 it also plans to launch a monthly subscription service for streaming video where it will offer the wide catalog of titles it owns, in addition to offering live matches of the main American leagues, at first this service will be limited to the United States. This announcement means that the company will withdraw the entire Netflix catalog, but only in the United States, since until Disney's streaming video service expands to more countries, it makes no sense to eliminate the entire catalog from the rest of the countries, since that those who lose out are them.
