Thanks to a new agreement between WhatsApp and Google, WhatsApp backups will no longer count towards the Google Drive storage quota. However, WhatsApp backups that have not been updated for over a year will be automatically removed from Google Drive. The policy will go into effect for all users on November 12, 2018, but some may be able to enjoy this benefit before that date. To avoid losing their backups, we recommend that users perform a manual backup of WhatsApp before November 12, 2018.
Ultimately, As of November 12 of this year, WhatsApp backups will not be limited or occupy our Google Drive space, but we have to be careful, since if we do not update the backup copies at least once a year they will be deleted from your server, for this the ideal thing is to schedule the backup copies on a monthly basis. At least it is a way to save space on Google Drive quite interesting.
