Where does eMule keep the credits? (2nd part)

HHello everyone, I'm going to finish telling you where eMule keeps the happy credits. If you still haven't read the first part of this post, I advise you to read first Where does eMule keep the credits? so you know what I'm talking about and why it is important to know the location of your credits.

DIn any case, let us remember three specific things:

  1. eMule uses a credit system that serves to promote yourself on the waiting list of the computer from which you are trying to download something.
  2. These credits are not global, that is, they will only help you move up the waiting list of a computer that has previously downloaded something from your computer. If you connect to a computer that never downloaded anything from yours, this computer will not give you any credit and will not promote you on the download waiting list.
  3. The higher your credits, the greater the promotion we will have in the download list of the computer that gave you those credits.

BWell, keeping this in mind you might think, "if I locate the place where eMule saves my credits, I could modify them and thus move up the download queue faster." This deduction is well reasoned, the problem is that eMule thought the same thing before you and me and realized the problem that this could bring.

ESo what did eMule do to avoid direct modification of credits? The eMule developers made it impossible for you to modify your own credits by saving them on computers that downloaded something from your computer.

BWell let's see, if a computer (B) downloads something from yours (A), computer B grants you some credits in case one day you want to download something from their computer.

PBut this computer B saves those credits on its hard drive and places an identifier (A) on it so that only your computer will be able to take advantage of those credits the day you want to download something from computer B. That is why if at any time you download something from computer B this gives you the credits and promotes you in the queue.

Atime as you are downloading files from computer B it's up to you to grant some credits in case computer B wants to download something from yours on another occasion.

CAs you never have access to the credits that other computers grant you. So why is it so important to know where eMule keeps my credits if I can't access them? The answer is very simple but first let's remember the conclusions that we draw at the end of the first part of this post:

First: If you don't share, you don't earn credits. The solution is to share more and problem solved.

Second: If I format the computer eMule does not save any credit. It is logical, do you remember that the computer that granted you the credits put a label to recognize you when you wanted to claim them? If you format the computer, your identifier changes and therefore the computer that has your credits will never recognize you as their owner.

Atime I can answer the previous question. The importance of knowing that eMule saves your credits on other people's computers is that this means that others must recognize you as the owner of the credits. Therefore you have to always keep your identifier to never lose those credits.

CAs we already know where eMule saves your credits and that you should keep your identifier, we are going to see what solution we have to avoid losing your identifier after formatting.

1º) Before formatting go to the "config" folder to configure emule. To do this, follow the route:

"C: Program Files eMuleconfig"

Once there copy the files preferences.dat, cryptkey.dat y clients.met.

2º) Save the files to a CD, USB key, or another place from which you can restore them.

3º) Now if you format your computer and reinstall eMule you will only have to paste the three copied files into the program's "config" folder and your identifier will remain unchanged, preserving the credits that others save for you.

Bwell that's it, the file "Clients.met" You do not need to save it but if you do then your computer will save the credits that you have given to other computers. This is important because this way they will rise earlier in your download queue and this will help them give you more credits, you know like the whiting that bites its tail.

PLastly, one more thing, perhaps you think that if your friend shares a lot, he must have many credits and that by copying his three files and saving them in the “config” folder of your eMule, you will also earn those credits. Don't do it, the latest versions of eMule recognize that trick and will take all credits away from both of you.

Hsee you soon. Vinegary greetings.

Hello Alejandro Keep in mind that there are many versions of eMule and I cannot guarantee that the credit files will not be lost. To stay calm, make a copy of the files involved and after the update you put them back in their place, it will take you just a minute and you will save a lot of problems. Greetings.

Hello assassin vinegar, to see if there is luck, I am trying to find the folder config of the emule in a windows vista, without success, it seems that in the program folder, it does not go, as it would be normal in an xp.
Does anyone have any idea where the windows vista can put it? Because the emule is working, so it must exist even though it is hidden.
The searches and the vision aids have not given me any results.
    Thank you

@david from Vista no idea so I can't help you.

@Juanca when something like what you say happens, it usually sounds like a virus. Pass the antivirus and install a firewall.
