Windows 10 had more vulnerabilities than Windows 7 last year

Last year Microsoft has corrected a greater number of security flaws than in 2015, and where Internet Explorer and Windows 10 are the main protagonists of the party. Specifically, the study shows us that last year Microsoft found a total of 729 vulnerabilities in its software, 26 more than those found in 2015. An increase that makes you think, especially since it is almost double the vulnerabilities that were detected in 2014, vulnerabilities and security flaws that amounted to a total of 383. This research affirms that Internet Explorer continues to be the biggest source of problems not only for Microsoft but also for users if we talk about security.

If we focus on the different Microsoft operating systems and / or applications, Internet Explorer tops the list with 1.261 defects, beating the absolute record for the company. In second place we find Windows 10, of which 705 vulnerabilities were detected. In third position is Windows Server 2012 with 660 and in fourth position we find Windows 7 with 647 security problems. Windows Vista, with 621 vulnerabilities, is in fifth position.

Despite the fact that the number of vulnerabilities may have increased in Windows 10, this study states that it does not necessarily mean that the latest operating system is less secure than its predecessors, since most vulnerabilities were privately reported to Microsoft and they were made public once they had been fixed, so that users were not exposed during the process.

Microsoft is paying special attention in eliminating the vulnerabilities of dero day, those that are currently available and that the company is not aware of, which can cause a serious security problem at any time. These types of vulnerabilities are the ones that offer the most economic rewards to users who find them, not only by the affected company but also by companies that are dedicated to trading with this type of information for unethical uses.
