As you already imagined, we have wanted to get into this revolution from the first moment, but more than to have a new telephone line, to try and experiment if what FreedomPop offers us are all advantages or if behind a rate that promises to be free there is some trick.

How to hire FreedomPop
To contract one of the rates that FreedomPop offers us, we must do so from the web page that you can access from this link. As surely you were imagining, They do not have any type of coverage of their own, and they use the one offered by Orange, which should not be too much since before starting the hiring process we must check availability in our area by entering the postal code and an email.
Once the availability has been checked, the available rates will be shown, among which of course there is the one that is totally free and that from now on we tell you that it has some tricks, quite unpleasant, so that the cheap ends up being expensive. - 200 Basic: Includes 200 MB of data, 100 minutes of calls, 300 SMS messages and unlimited WhatsApp for zero euros per month
- 2GB Premium: This rate includes 2 GB of data, unlimited minutes of calls, unlimited SMS and unlimited WhatsApp for 8,99 euros per month. You can take advantage of this rate for a month for free and then decide what to do, whether to continue with it or cancel it
- 5GB Premium: Includes 5 GB of data, unlimited minutes of calls, unlimited SMS and unlimited WhatsApp for 15,99 euros per month
Once we have selected the rate that we want to contract, which in our case will be the one that is totally free, we must make the payment, which includes a activation fee of 9.99 euros and a shipping cost of 1.99 euros. With this we could say that FreedomPop will no longer be totally free, although all operators charge for sending the SIM card. Of course, it charges almost 10 euros for an activation process that we will carry out ourselves, through a web page, it seems at least strange and above all expensive.
Before making the payment we must take special care with the option «Visual Voicemail Test» that is checked by default and that the first month will be free, but that from the second month it will cost 9.99 euros. In our case we have deactivated it since the objective is to get a 100% free rate and not to have extremely expensive add-ons in our opinion.
Once the payment has been made, the time has come to choose whether we want FreedomPop to offer us a new phone number or to bring us the usual number that we have in another company, that is, to carry out a portability with our current operator. The problem with all this is that At the moment this peculiar telephone operator does not have the possibility of offering us its service with our usual number available, that is, either we contract the rate with a new number or we must look for other options.

And it is that despite the fact that in the information of this operator we can read that "FreedomPop assures you that you will never be without internet access even when you exceed the capacity of your monthly plan", what they do not tell you is that By default we have activated an automatic recharge system, which has a cost of 5 euros, which will be charged automatically when we are 20 MB from finishing our bonus of data.
This option can be deactivated from our user profile, but in the event that you do not stop to review all the options as we have done, you may find yourself with a charge of 5 euros each month.
Before this economic problem, we should have already realized that all the menu and options of our user profile are in English, something that is certainly not too pleasant, especially if we have to activate or deactivate any option to that they do not charge us for example for the use of additional data.
The last unpleasant surprise that FreedomPop has prepared for us is the one baptized as "Automatic Top-up", for which we will be automatically charged € 1 each time our balance falls below a certain amount.
