We are referring to Firefox 33, which will place a special attachment in the area where the plugins or extensions that we use daily for a specific function are generally located; because this new functionality will soon make its presence known, Today we want to prepare the way for you so that you already know what you should do, once this version is officially proposed.
Video calls to make from Mozilla Firefox
The first thing we must understand is that there are two different ways to use this new functionality; One makes an inescapable reference to the person who is going to invite a different person to a talk; the second case occurs instead when we are the guests to participate in said talk. For either of the two options you have to knowing how to choose the correct method to know how to activate this new Firefox feature.
1. Inviting a friend to join a video call
If you want to participate in this program and new project that Mozilla offers you with Firefox 33, we invite you to download the beta version, although it is best to wait for the stable version to be officially released. Anyway if you have encouraged download the beta version of Firefox 33, once you launch the browser you will find an additional icon in the upper right, that is, in the place where they are generally located all those add-ons or extensions that we use for a specific function.
Assuming the first case that we suggested above, we will only have to select the phone icon to invite a friend to chat with us; At that moment, a URL will appear, to which we will have to copy to later share it with whoever we want to talk to, something that we could well do through an email message.
It would be convenient that to use this video call system there is some type of client or complement that notifies us of the arrival of the new message to email inbox, something very similar to what you do Gmail Notifier. Well, once our friend receives said link and clicks on it, a new window will appear on our side, in which we will be told that there is an "incoming call". There we will have the option to select any of the two buttons shown in the window, which will help us to reject the call (the red button) or to answer it (the green button).
A few additional options will appear in the options bar of the Firefox 33 browser, which will help us to silence the microphone or the camera, and there is also the possibility of hanging it up to finish it at that moment.
2. Receiving the invitation to participate in a video call
The second case that we have suggested from the beginning is this, that is, we have been invited to participate in a video call through a link, which we will receive via email. When we click on that link a small window will appear that will suggest «start a video call or voice conversation ».
The additional icons that we suggested above will also appear at this time, that is, we will also have the possibility to mute webcam, microphone or simply hang up the call when it is over.
It is worth mentioning that throughout the initial configuration process, Firefox 33 will ask us for permission to activate and use certain resources on our computer, which means that the browser will have privileges to activate the webcam and also the microphone. For two people to be able to participate in a video call, it is required that they both have the same version of this Internet browser.
