Nexus 6P Vs Nexus 6, has the evolution of the Google phablet been enough?

Nexus 6P vs. Nexus 6

Just yesterday Google officially presented its new Nexus terminals, baptized with the name of Nexus 5X y Nexus 6P. If this morning we put face to face with the original Nexus 5, which achieved great market success and the new Nexus 5P that offers us improvements and new functions, but perhaps not as many as many of us expected, now is the turn to face the original Nexus 6 and the new Nexus 6P manufactured by Huawei.

Unlike the Nexus 5P, the two Nexus 6 have not had the same manufacturer, so we could say that the differences are already very clear in the design, although unfortunately inside we will find more similarities than differences. From now on we can tell you that we expected something more from this Nexus 6P and in the end we could say that we are facing a minimally improved version in some aspects compared to the original Nexus 6.

First of all, we are going to review the main characteristics and specifications of the original Nexus 6 and the new Nexus 6P, manufactured by Huawei.

Hardware renovation

After taking a look at the main features and specifications of this new Nexus 6P we can say that Huawei has made a hardware renovation, compared to the Nexus 6, which we could say is the correct, but without much fanfare. The novelties compared to the original Nexus 6 are few and although the screen, the processor and the RAM are up to par, once again Google and the Chinese manufacturer have missed the opportunity to create a more powerful and outstanding smartphone.

What does disappoint, at least in terms of figures, is the rear camera, whose lens has been manufactured by Sony and offers us 12 megapixels, a far cry from most mobile devices that we can currently find on the market. Of course, from what we have seen in the first photographs taken with this Nexus 6P, the result is very good, although perhaps not better than what we had with the original Nexus 6.

In summary, we could say that the hardware has improved little and has even worsened since the megapixels of the slow motion of the original Nexus 6 are higher than those of the Nexus 6P.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the big difference

Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Once we are clear that the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 6P are two different devices, but really similar after all, we must try to find the differentiating point between them. This is undoubtedly found in its operating system and it is that without in the original Nexus 6 we found Android Lollipop as an operating system in this new Huawei Nexus we find the also new Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Android Lollipop offered Nexus 6 users several problems, for example in relation to battery life, which made it a failure, closely linked with the growth of the terminal in terms of size and with the considerable price increase. With the arrival of the new Android 6.0 Google hopes to solve many of the problems of Android 5.0 and that this makes the new Nexus 6P become one of the star devices on the market.

Small details are the key to this Nexus 6P

The Nexus 6P is not too different from the original Nexus 6 as we have been saying throughout the article, but there are small details that in the end make these two terminals totally different. In addition, these details will be the culprits, without a doubt, that many users end up acquiring this new terminal.

Among those details is the USB Type-C port, which is undoubtedly the future and although at the moment it has as many virtues as defects, Google has wanted to implement it in this new Nexus to offer something interesting to users.

El fingerprint reader, which we have already seen in many other terminals is another differentiating aspect of this Nexus 6P. Unfortunately there are also small details that we miss very much such as wireless charging or water resistance.

Final assessment

Google Nexus 6P

To be honest we have to say that the renewal of the Nexus 6 for this Nexus 6P has been correct, but without further ado since perhaps we all expected something else that finally seems to be that Google and Hauwei have decided to save for future devices.

If I had to give an opinion of my own, I think Google has not managed to convince me as a Nexus 6 user to renew it for the new version. The original Nexus 6 cost me a lot of money and the news that the new terminal will bring me are very few, although I am convinced that this new Nexus is going to give a lot of play in the market and also it will quickly stand out in sales Worldwide.

Who do you think is the winner of this duel in the sun between the original Nexus 6 and this new Nexus 6P?. You can give us your opinion about it in the space reserved for comments on this post or through any of the social networks in which we are present.

The problem is that so far there is no technology (at least in processors and graphics) more advanced than what can already be purchased, if it is not the Snapdragon 810 it is the 808 that the G4 has, the difference can be made by the design and that both take advantage of Android 6.0 to this hardware. Otherwise I see it well, what disappoints me a bit is that many are leaving aside external memories.
