Design: Where X by Kygo wants to risk

X by Kygo products tend to move away from conventionality, and in this True Wireless (TWS) headphones it was not going to be less. Although they can easily remind us of Microsoft's Surface Buds, the reality is that they have a totally opposite idea to those previously mentioned. We find prominent and circular headphones on the outside.

However, they are earbuds, of those that are introduced into the ear. The first sensation is strange, you will find it hard to believe that they do not fall easily. However, they have gone for a consistent weight lineup and good pads.

  • Headphone weight: 63 grams
  • Colors: Black and white

These pads, slightly different from the ones we usually see, help them not to move even the slightest in any circumstance. On the other hand, toThey carry a plus of soundproofing that never hurts considering that they are headphones with ANC (active noise cancellation).

In this frame of details we find a trunk-style box, with a top opening but surprisingly small. More compact than the Huawei FreeBuds 3 case and only slightly larger than Apple's AirPods V2. It is worth mentioning that it charges via USB-C and that cWe have up to 10 sets of pads to adapt the product to our needs.

Technical characteristics and autonomy

Let's start with fate, something that X by Kygo does not usually skimp on with its products. We have two 10mm drivers with a 32 Ohm impudence  and a response frequency between 20Hz and 20 KHz with a sensitivity of 97 db.

We have Bluetooth 5.0 for connection with compatibility with the most demanding profiles A2DP, AVRCP, HSP, HPF and of course compatibility with the sound of Apple (AAC) And the sound Qualcomm Hi-Fi, aptX. They have not wanted practically nothing to be lacking.

As for the box we have a 750 mAh battery, 85 mAh for each earbud in your case That gives us up to 30 hours of autonomy that is clearly reduced if we activate the ANC (up to about 20 hours in our tests). The full charge has taken us about two hours.

However, it has a fast charge of 15 minutes that will give us up to 2 more hours of playback. We must not forget that we have IPX 5 resistance to water and sweat, So we will not have any problem if we want to use them while exercising, in our tests they have been comfortable and especially insulating.

Own app and noise cancellation

We start with active noise cancellation, it has its own functionality in headphones that it will allow us to cancel all external noise or activate the «Ambient Mode», that will only isolate us from the most repetitive conversations or sounds, ideal if we are walking down the street to give us an extra security.

In my tests I have thus come across one of the most effective TWS earphones with ANC I've ever tried, being the noise cancellation real, effective and of quality.

We have Mimi sound customization from X by Kygo, Guiding us through the application will allow us to answer a series of questions and audio tests so that the headphones save an audio profile that satisfies our musical needs. It is slightly noticeable, as the activation of the bass enhancement.

For its part we have built-in microphones that in testing have responded very well to phone conversations, as well as when invoking Siri through the device's gesture control. We also have proximity sensors to detect when we take them off and stop the music (or put it back on).

Audio quality and editor experience

In terms of audio quality, as has happened with previous X by Kygo products, we find ourselves with a very well tuned product. Listening to demanding groups with this type of headphones such as Artic Monkeys or Queen, it has allowed us to enjoy all ranges and instruments.

One more time X by Kygo allows us to enjoy all kinds of music thanks to the customization capabilities and launches a high-quality sound product.

For its part, the application is quite a flattering point, allowing us to feel that we have a product that matches its price and that we can customize to our liking. Active noise cancellation delivers exactly what it promises and our test results have been particularly favorable. on the same level as headphones like the AirPods Pro.

The time has come for the price, 199 euros for these headphones that are obviously expensive, but are intended for a user perhaps more demanding than strictly commercial. You can buy them for the moment only on its official website (link) in white or black.
